Audrey's first RX

Dad doesn't blog often but I can get inspired every now and again. I think I am writing this one because I feel bad.

Let's start this off by giving you a little insight to who Ryan really is. I underestimate the importance of many things, just ask my wife. I do not get excited easily, I never think things are as bad as everyone else but for some reason I have made it through life thus far. Sprained ankle, no problem just wrap it and keep playing. Katrina, just a bad storm, nothing major. ACL reconstruction, 9 months and playing b-ball again (hurt again by the way). I look at athletes and it takes them a year to get back. Am I just that good or do I not see everything clearly?

Now I see things just fine. A mother's intuition seems like over protection and worry to me but turns out to be RIGHT every now and again. I do not say that often because I am usually the one right (the man always gets lower case) but this time, not so much. For the past week or so Audrey has had a runny nose. I attribute it to allergies like my whole family has. Then she started getting a cough, again I attribute it to post nasal drip while sleeping but just in case we put the humidifier on. Trust me on this, I am a health professional surrounded by nurses and I think I know everything about health. I know you know where I am going and I am dragging it out but just hold on for a second longer. Then the cough gets worse and Audrey's little chest begins to crackle when breathing (not good). At this point I am on board with the notion that it is more serious than I believed and it is time for a doctor's visit. So Sarah takes her to the doctor and sho nuff, BRONCHITIS. Who would have thunk it? Not I. I would have let her be miserable if it wasn't for Sarah telling me it was something worse.

Audrey playing while sick (still cute as a button)

To wrap everything up in a few words. Audrey has been the best sick baby ever because she just kept right on playing even though she had Bronchitis. My wife is always RIGHT and I need to err on the side of caution every once in a while.

9

Our girl turned 9 months old this week. There have been a few new developments.
She can pick up food on her own & put it in her mouth. She now eats pretty much anything we eat & we've finally got her on our schedule. I give her a bottle first thing & then we eat breakfast together......usually scrambled eggs & whole grain muffins, pancakes or oatmeal & fruit.

Lunch is noonish which consists of chicken or chicken salad, veggies & fruit then she gets a bottle right before nap b/w 2-3pm. She is taking two really good naps/day usually lasting around 2hours long! She eats dinner with us & then we usually go for a walk before a bath, bottle & bed around 8ish.
She is moving around pretty quickly & LOVES exploring & playing chase with me, daddy or bruiser. She is also getting 2 more teeth which brings our total count to 8!
Today she started saying "Da da" & I know that Ryan is SO proud of her & proud to be the one she is calling (I'm not jealous or anything :) When he got home from work & I said....."guess what our girl has been saying?" I don't think he quite got it. When he heard her say it a few minutes later....I saw pride, love, joy & I think, tears in his eyes :)

Weeeee're Baack!!!

Sorry for those of you that thought we fell off the blogging world :) We're Back! This summer has been really busy between Audrey, work, NolaBaby & just life in general....I'm sure ya'll understand. Anyways, let me tell you about what we've been up to:

We started the 4th of July holiday thursday with my godchildren (technically they are not both my godchildren but I still claim them both). Anyways they are my best friend from high school's kids & let me just tell you.....DO NOT BELIEVE anything that their blog says......those children were ANGELS.....you hear me Racheal, ANGELS! We went to chuckie cheese & Cole kept talking about how he was the big brother & he was suppose to protect his sister & me even & what a little gentleman.... some poor little girl had NO clue how to use one of the games...what does Cole do??? he goes over & shows her how to work the game! ANGELS!!!
Jeff you're right about Scarlett...that girl can TAAALLLLKKKK!!!! This was only a smidgen of what we heard on the way from chuckie cheese to our house in mandeville:
Scarlett: "One time at my maw maw's house, my maw maw peggy not my other maw maw......did you see that lightening......anyways, what was I saying

Cole: "At mawmaw peggy's when we were................"

Scarlett: "NOOOOO, I'm telling cole, at mawmaw peggy's.....punchbuggy white, no punchbacks....when we get icecream, nanny, do I have to share with Cole?........."

The girl cracked me up! But don't be fooled by Cole's good looks & sweet charming manner.....that boy can talk to :)......if you can get Scarlett to give him a turn! All in all, we had a great visit! We ate way to much candy, stayed up past their bedtime (only by a little bit Rach) & just played. They loved Audrey & all her toys & took turns playing with her & them :) I learned how easy it is to embarrass a 7 year old little girl (REALLY EASY:)

Cole with Audrey....isn't he a cutie?

Scarlett & Audrey...she really was a good sport about being passed back & forth

What are godmother's for?

We spent Friday with my brother & sister-in-law who we always just enjoy being around! Jenn's dad took us out on the boat on Friday & then Friday evening we went to dinner at Irene's (downtown New Orleans)...the food was amazing & the company was even better....we miss ya'll already. Audrey got to spend the evening with her JoJo & ChaCha & was visited by ALOT of relatives included Aunt Kandi (we need a pic-Kandi) who loves Audrey maybe just a little too much :)
Jenn with my nephew Christian (...he was not feeling well the whole time but handled it like a champ)

Ryan & Ryan (yeah that gets confusing:)

My sister, Susan & her husband Joe came in town too & we all had such a good time together. We played games, tubed the river, & ate LOTS of good food!!!...Susan lives in Texas so I feel like I don't get to see her as much as everyone else. When ever they come to town we love to spend as much time as possible with them. By the end of the trip, Audrey was ready to go home with her Aunt Suey & Uncle Joe!!!

Susan & Joe Miller

The whole family together (even though we they weren't posing, my dad & Joe are in the background-we got ya'll!!! where's Ryan?...your Ryan, not my brother Ryan, my husband Ryan.....yeah it gets confusing:)

Audrey & Christian are two weeks apart & have gotten to be great playmates! We've decided that Christian will most probably be the ring leader & Rollins will be the executer....what part will Audrey play? :)

The rest of the pics can be viewed at this site. If you have any cute ones from the weekend please send them to me (Debbie-I know you always take pics:)
